About the show

Dubbed “the funniest farce ever written”, Noises Off by Michael Frayn follows a theatre company from their final chaotic rehearsal of the sex farce “Nothing On” to their disastrous final performance. Filled with classic tropes like slamming doors, affairs, and falling trousers, Noises Off is side-splittingly funny.

Written in 1982, Noises Off quickly gained popularity and has since become a favourite of theatre-goers across the globe. In 1992 it appeared on the big screen, starring Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, and Christopher Reeve.

REPORT

Welcome to Warragul Theatre Company’s 2024 production Noises Off! Who better to direct such a show but the very talented Amy Moss? Amy is new to WTC (she did previously perform in a production of The Wizard of Oz by our predecessors), is well known in the theatre community and has brought this production to life with her vision and amazing leadership. Assisting Amy are the talented Elyse Clyde and Taylah Bordonaro, who alongside their assistant roles, are two of our fabulous cast members.

A big thank you also goes out to our talented cast for their dedication to this high energy play - I’m sure you can agree they are fabulous. And who can forget the amazing efforts of everyone behind the scenes? From our production manager, to costume coordinator, transport, stage management, crew... the list goes on! We wouldn’t have a show without each and every one of these dedicated people.

Finally, a big shout out to Windmill Theatre Company for the hire of this amazing set and assistance with set up. A massive thank you to our major sponsor, Lardner Park, for homing us and our massive set for the past six weeks of rehearsal. So, grab yourself a plate of sardines, sit back, relax, and enjoy the chaos.... sardines and doors, bags and boxes.

A MESSAGE FROM THE

Untitled design (7)_edited.png

I had a personally difficult year last year in 2023, but what better antidote to a challenging year than getting the opportunity to direct one of your all-time favourite comedies in 2024! Noises Off has been on my bucket list for an extraordinarily long time. It is a big, funny, silly, love letter to theatre that has the subtly of a sledgehammer a description that could also describe yours truly!

There are too many people to thank individually, but it would be remiss of me to not extend my heartfelt thanks to Alyssa Fritzlaff, one of the most capable and brilliant people I’ve worked with, along with Elyse and Taylah, I truly could not have done this show without their valuable assistance. The fact that all three of these women are also in the cast is incredible. Huge thanks to every single individual in the production team, they have taken on a mammoth task and often do not get the fanfare they really deserve. Thanks to every single one of you!

The cast of this show are amongst the most comedically talented casts I have ever worked with. Unlike the cast of ‘Nothing On’ these actors are just the loveliest people and I have genuinely loved every minute working with them. I knew from the very first day of auditions that this show was going to be one of my proudest theatre memories, I hope that we have created a memorable theatre experience for audiences too.
